The Metropolitan Musical Theatre Company of SA Inc, aka The MET, is very proud and excited to present the South Australian Premier of 9 to 5 at The Arts Theatre in May 2017.
9 to 5, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the 1980 hit movie Nine to Five.
Pushed to the boiling point by their boss, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. They co-inspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do – even in a man’s world. Set in the late 1970’s, 9 to 5 is an hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic, 9 to 5 is about teaming up and taking care of business.
The MET welcomes Director Selena Britz, Musical Director Jillian Gulliver and Choreographer Carmel Vistoli as the multi-talented production team for 9 to 5.
Director Selena Britz says, “9 to 5 the musical is filled with high energy ensemble numbers, has a jubilant bouncy and big hearted score and is a lot of fun. If you’ve ever worked in an office or have experienced a tyrant of a boss, you’ll relate well to the characters and the process they follow to fulfill their own true potential to “Shine like the sun”.
The MET’s production of 9 to 5 features Trish Hart as Violet Newstead, Kristen Hatty as Judy Bernly, Lucy Carey as Doralee Rhodes, Greg Hart as Franklin Hart and is supported by a very strong and energetic ensemble.
With its jubilant score and easily relatable characters, 9 to 5 will entertain and delight you and have you in stitches.
